PARENT CONFERENCES and END of the 3rd Qtr.

Hi everyone,

With vacation coming up at the end of the week, I wanted to make sure we all had some important dates on our calendars for activities at the middle school. Congratulations on all the hard work of the kids for both Elizabethan Night and their lengthy research papers for Government class. Sometimes the long winter gets us down but our group has stayed positive and now we're excited for spring!

Last day of the 3rd quarter: MARCH 27th

Parent/teacher/student conferences: APRIL 6th (no regular classes)

If possible, could you email me preferred conference times for April 6th? I can guarenteer your ideal time slot if you email me sooner rather than later. I am available all day, beginning at 7:00am if need be. They are typically 30 min. or so.

Have a great break, and a fun trip if you are headed off somewhere warm! :-)

EXPLORE THE UPPER SCHOOL Tuesday 2/17

Hi everyone,

I was looking at the calendar, and I wanted to remind everyone to remember the EXPLORING THE UPPER SCHOOL event on Tuesday, February 17 at 7:00pm.

Who is invited? Parents AND students of Form II

Why is this a good thing? To learn more about what our high school is all about- get to know some teachers, hear stories from students, and get your questions answered.

Hope to see everyone there- I will remind the kids during advisee group next week.

Enjoy the weekend :-)

A New Year and a new advisee! (and Hockey Night...)

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!

1. I would like to welcome Dylan Cronin to our already wonderful advisee group. He is from Higganum, CT and is very excited to be a part of the group. The kids have already done a fine job of making him feel comfortable here, and is just getting used to our schedule of events and classes.

2. TEAM TOBATI HOCKEY NIGHT! here is the news article for the fun night of hockey, food, and team energy held this Friday at the K-O rink.

Kingswood-Oxford’s Hockey Night to raise funds for Team Tobatí

Team Tobatí, a group at Kingswood-Oxford School dedicated to helping the community of Tobatí, Paraguay, will present “Ryan Gordon Hockey Night - Cold Steel on Ice: Not Just a Hockey Game but a Celebration of Life,” Friday, Jan. 9. The night will feature three K-O hockey games and a skating party following the final contest.

The boys’ middle school hockey team will take the ice first in a 4 p.m. game against Rectory School. The girls’ varsity squad will play Southfield School at 6 p.m., and the boys’ varsity team will take on Dexter School at 8 p.m.

Admission to the open-to-the-public event, which will be held in the Brayton Athletic Center on the K-O campus, is $5, with all proceeds going toward Team Tobatí’s Macchi School in Tobatí, Paraguay. Refreshments and T-shirts will be on sale during the evening. Skate rentals will be available for $3.

The event is named in memory of Ryan Gordon, a 2005 graduate of K-O. For more information on Team Tobatí, please visit http://www.teamtobati.org/.

Midterm info, and Thanksgiving THANK YOU

1. Well guys, we did it! We had the most full box of thanksgiving give-aways for loaves and fishes. Thanks to the kids for remembering and the families for helping deliver and bring in turkeys. What a great thing for community service put on by Mrs. Clarke.

2. Here is the schedule for midterms beginning December 16th Tuesday. (already?!!) yes. During the next two weeks we will be filling out a study schedule to spread out all the fun. Make sure the kids come to school next week with an exam binder- we will speak in advisee group what should be in there for each class. Mainly, study guides, old tests and quizzes, and vocab lists of any sort. One last reminder from me is this: kids are going to be well-prepared for these tests. Please don't let the midterms stress out the entire family. The goal here is to practice being organized and taking advantage of review time- it is NOT meant to cause anxiety or unnecessary overworking. For Form II, midterms count for only 1/7th of the semester grade.
